As an owner of a home in a planned community or condominium, you are a member of the association for your community.

You have rights of ownership of the common elements and you have rights akin to those of a stockholder in corporation.
You have the right to vote for the members of the board and to petition the board in accordance with the bylaws of your association.
You have the right to review most association records, and to make copies for appropriate purposes.
You have the right to receive a copy of the budget each year, and the right to address issues of concern to you to your board. Read the governing documents for your community, and ask questions!
